Carla
Ashley - Club Manager
My interest in health and fitness lead me to join the Strides
team in 2006. It was a great experience to be part of a
new business, where I could use the skills I had previously
developed while undertaking and learning new skills at the
same time.
To further my knowledge in the fitness industry, I became
a Certified Resistance Trainer. This has allowed me to work
more closely with our members and to have a better understanding
of resistance training.
In 2009, I gladly accepted the promotion as Club Manager.
I have developed and continue to build friendly and trusting
relationships with our members. I take pride in watching
Strides grow with success.
Eleven years ago, I decided it was time to create the healthy
active lifestyle I knew I always wanted. From this came
my passion for running. For me, there is no better gratification
than me, my sneakers and hearing the sound of my breath.
My only competition is me. I believe everyone should have
their own personal passion, one that takes you away from
the everyday routine, one that gives you a sense of satisfaction.
I did it!
I am inspired by those around me. I find great pleasure
and excitement in seeing people reach their goals. And that
is why I love my career.
I challenge you to find your healthy passion!

Sarah
Goble - Yoga Instructor
Born and raised in Vancouver, Sarah started practicing hot
yoga in 2007. From the very first hot class she took, she
was in love! Fast forward to the fall of 2009, Sarah and
her partner moved their lives across the country to Enfield,
Nova Scotia. This is where she discovered Moksha Yoga. Sarah
decided to further her knowledge and yoga practice by attending
teacher training in Montreal 2010. This was life changing
experience for her where she learned so much about herself
and her practice. Sarah is now teaching at both Moksha Yoga
Dartmouth and Halifax as well as Strides located in Elmsdale.
She is so excited to explore her yoga practice over her
lifetime and to see what life hands to her while practicing
living 'in the now'. She hopes to see you soon at Strides!

Shelley
Ferguson - Fitness Instructor
I used to attend classes on a regular basis and it was suggested
to me by the other instructors that I had the knack for
it, so when my twins were born in 2002, I was off for the
year, so I took the course then. It was always fun having
Andrew and Lauren sitting in their car seats watching Mom
jump around the gym floor.
I started teaching at Strides on Day 1 and have been here
ever since. I was so excited about having a full service
gym facility available in the corridor area. I am very passionate
about staying healthy and fit and passing the belief and
good habits on to my children, family and friends. I strongly
believe that if you set a good example they shall follow.
Strides is a wonderful gym with great staff and members.
The interior of the gym is very well done and the equipment
available is top notch. It is always a pleasure to teach
at Strides.

Kim
MacNeil -Fitness Instructor
I am NSFA certified and have been an instructor with Strides
since we opened in 2006. My high energy and popular music
selection make my step, spin or cardio strength classes
up beat and something to look forward to. As an Occupational
Therapist, being healthy is very important to me. I live
an active lifestyle and enjoy snowboarding, as well as biking
with my husband, little boy and dog. My focus and drive
helped me complete a half marathon, two 10k's and an 8 hour
eco challenge. I consider myself to have an outgoing and
friendly personality and I welcome anyone who is interested
in getting out, having fun and staying healthy. Whether
you have previous gym experience or not, I am very versatile
and therefore, welcome every fitness level to my classes.
See you in class! |

Cassie
Turple -Fitness Instructor
2010 will be my third year teaching fitness classes at Strides
Health & Fitness Club and I love every minute of it!
I have taught at other larger facilities but what I love
about Strides is the sense of community and getting to know
all of the members so I can work with them to help achieve
their specific fitness and life goals through fun group
fitness exercises. I specialize in hard-hitting kick box
classes as well as indoor cycling (Spin), boot camp, cardio-strength,
and muscle mass! I think it’s important to touch on
the five pillars of fitness in any active lifestyle to ensure
overall physical health for a lifetime: strength, agility,
cardiovascular endurance, balance and flexibility. My personal
mantra is to sweat at least once a day, enjoy every minute
of life, and never say no to an opportunity! I look forward
to working with Strides members, new and old, to achieve
and maintain a healthy and happy lifestyle. |

Karen
Lewis - Fitness Instructor
I started participating in classes in the 80s and was hooked!
With some encouragement from another instructor, I obtained
my land fitness certification in 1990. Furthermore, I acquired
my strength training certification and course conductor
certifications. Over the years I have taught hi/lo, no bounce,
step, boxercise and strength classes. Working at Strides
has allowed me to continue to instruct classes on a schedule
that works around my family life. It has been a welcome
challenge to move forward and instruct new classes such
as spinning and cardio ball. |

Kathy
Mauger - Fitness Instructor
I took my first fitness class about 5 years ago, starting
at the very back of the room. Over the years, I slowly made
my way to the front of the class and realized that, naturally,
I was meant to teach…I became certified in 2009 with
Can-Fit Pro and have been teaching at Strides for 2 ½
years. My passion is fitness and the challenge of pushing
myself and participants to work harder while still having
fun!! I teach a variety of classes, but my favorites are:
Cardio Kick, Step and Interval classes. I love the atmosphere
and the flexibility of Strides and the great members we
have. See you in class! |
